Abstract

This research was done because there were some students that had problems in writing. The problems were students cannot organize the idea well, the students cannot make correct sentence, and last the students had less confidence in writing. Relate to this condition, the researcher tried to use guided writing as a technique to teach the students in writing. Therefore, the researcher wanted to find out the effect of using guided writing towards students’ writing ability in descriptive text at tenth grade students of MASTI Koto Tinggi Pandai Sikek in the academic years 2020/2021. The design of this research was pre-experimental research. The population of this research was all students at tenth grade students of MASTI Koto Tinggi Pandai Sikek in the academic years 2020/2021. The sample was 15 students of tenth grade students of MASTI Koto Tinggi Pandai Sikek. The instrument of this research was written test. To analyze the data, the researcher used SPSS version 20 for windows. In analyzing the data, the researcher used Paired Samples Test to find the effect of using guided writing toward students’ writing ability in descriptive text. The result of this research showed that there was the effect of using guided writing toward students’ writing ability in descriptive text at tenth grade students of MASTI Koto Tinggi Pandai Sikek in the academic years 2020/2021. It has presented by using statistical of paired sample test SPSS. The criteria of paired simple t test was the Ha is accepted when the significance test < 0,005, in contrast, Ho is refused. Based on the research which the significance test was 0,00 < 0,05, it meant that Ha is accepted. In conclusion, the hypothesis of Ha was there is significant effect of using Guided Writing towards students’ writing ability in descriptive text at MASTI Koto Tinggi Pandai Sikek.
